Division by Circle

Digestion is a complex process, involving a wide variety of organs and chemicals that work together to break down food, absorb nutrients, and eliminate wastes. Students can design their own digestive system with the Digestive System Gizmo.

In the Food Chain Gizmo students study the population of hawks, snakes, rabbits, and grass as part of a food chain. Disease can be introduced, and the number of animals can be increased or decreased at any time, just like in the real world.

The Cell Division Gizmo allows students to observe the steps of interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis. The length of the cell cycle can be controlled, and data related to the number of cells present and their current phase can be recorded.

Estimation Physical Activity
Get your students active with our estimation worksheets! Challenge them to estimate how long it will take to do 100 of each exercise on the handout, and then let them see if they were correct.

Division with Circles
Challenge your students with division problems that include a sweet treat! Use our handouts that ask students to divide 100 cheerios, (or another snack) into groups of 2, 4, 5 and 10.

100 Ways to Make 100
Ask students to work with a partner to come up with 100 addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division equations that equal 100.

Fractions Bingo
Since some students are dressing up like they’re 100 years old, introduce them to the quintessential game of Bingo…fractions Bingo that is! To play, students roll two dice, and mark off fractions from the game board. The smaller number is the numerator and the larger number is the denominator. First to get five in a row- up or down, across, or diagonally-- wins!
